OUR STORY
Our production is still carried out using hand labor at every stage due to the traditional characteristics of Afyon Lokum. Our products are produced using first-class quality dried nuts collected in season from the region without any additives or active ingredients, natural flavors and colorants obtained entirely from fruits and vegetables, chocolates supplied from Belgium, and creams obtained from natural cocoa. Zero sweeteners or sugar syrups other than beet sugar are used in our products.
Akkent Lokum, a family heritage that started 150 years ago in Akşehir with Hacı Abdullah’s halva and confectionery production, and has been continued for four generations with the inclusion of the unique Afyon Lokum in production, continues to develop and progress with today’s entrepreneurial vision.
With the brands Akkent and Ottoman1860, we carry not only a business but also a culture into the future by bringing traditional flavors to the consumer with modern presentations. Lokum is a confectionery called “rahat-ul hulküm” (throat soothing) in Arabic, dating back to 226-652 BC, with a history extending from palace kitchens to sultans’ tables and the weddings of the leading families of the period.
We made our first exports to Dubai in 2002 and to the United States in 2004. We became the first company to send Turkish delight from Turkey to the country with the Turkish delight export we carried out to Croatia in 2022. Today, we are proud to offer Turkish delight, which is a national value, to 19 different countries on 4 continents and to take part in the project that produced the “World’s Longest Turkish Delight” in 2024 and entered the Guinness Book of Records.
We meet local and foreign tourists in Afyonkarahisar with our Akkent brand and in our Istanbul Taksim store with our Ottoman 1860 brand. In March 2025, as the best example of our stable growth, we took our place in Mascat, the capital of Oman, with our first store abroad. We sell Turkish delight, traditional Turkish flavors and provide service in the cafe concept at Ottoman1860 Mascat. This journey from Afyonkarahisar to the world was the product of an international vision.
We supply Turkish delight to whole country with our e-commerce site www.akkentonline.com. We bring together each of our customers with the Akkent quality that makes life even sweeter in all orders placed from 81 provinces. We supply Turkish delight to one chain market in Switzerland and two in Turkey.
